Where can I start? The first time I spoke to Gustavo, I wasn’t really interested in shooting with him, I was just more interested in talking one on one about art to someone who truly appreciates it and can obviously create beautiful works of art himself. After chatting for several hours I finally decided to shoot with him. I was skeptical because I had come across several “sketchy” photographers in the past. But, he immediately made me feel comfortable. After several hours of shooting I knew, this guy has it. He has the talent and vision of a REAL photographer. His use of lighting is outstanding. His minimal photoshopping is amazing. He does as little as possible to create a naturally beautiful photo and it’s clear when you look at his work. When I first spoke to Gustavo I thought, well here’s a guy I’ll probably never talk to after this; he gets this all the time and I’m just one of a few thousand. What I didn’t think I would get out of it was a friend for life and that’s truly what he has become to me. He has done everything in his power to help me further myself in my life as well as my career and I can honestly say I’ve never met another person like him.

I have had the pleasure of working with Gustavo on a couple of occasions. When I first sat down with him to discuss my shoot, I had already seen examples of his work – his photographs speak for themselves. I knew he had a wonderful eye for his art. Gustavo has told me several times, “I don’t like to work with models…I like to work with people.” I believe this is the secret to his success. When he is behind his camera, he is always looking beyond a pretty face to try to capture a glimpse of your personality.
